Join us and AIA Honolulu, Oct. 5-12, for Canstruction® at Kahala Mall. Architects, builders, allied designers and engineering professionals will put their building skills to the test as they creatively “CANstruct” giant structures made entirely out of several thousand cans of food – all to be donated to Hawaii Foodbank. This is AIA Honolulu’s biggest community giveback event.
This year's theme is "The Aloha Spirit!" Taking care of our community includes coming together to alleviate hunger. “Hiki nō!” means “It CAN be done!” In this year’s CANstruction, let’s celebrate what makes Hawaii nō ka ʻoi.

The Canstruction® competition is getting a new beginning as it makes its move to Kahala Mall and there’s no better way to welcome and celebrate Canstruction®’s new venue with none other than expressing our aloha spirit. This year’s participating Canstruction® teams are encouraged to celebrate what makes Hawaii unique with a theme representing today’s local style, Hawaiian history, and island gems. Giving back to Hawaii Foodbank is everyone’s kuleana and together, One CAN at a Time, we CAN support our local community with the Aloha Spirit.
Since its inception, AIA Honolulu's Canstruction® event has gathered and donated 394,805 pounds of canned goods -- enough food to make 310,870 meals.
